Our Story

 

Where It All Began

Since 2016 Paul & Samantha have been operating hire boats from Higher Poynton on the Macclesfield Canal.  Since then we have quickly grown and added to the boats in the fleet and now run 5 boats, with more in the pipeline.

Middlewich Wharf had been vacant for some time and we required permanent premises to operate from and improve our service to customers.

After successfully securing the site we will be undertaking repairs to the property and adding further services to our offering.

It’s our ambition to develop Middlewich Wharf into a co-operative of canal trades, in order to offer a one-stop-shop for all canal related needs.

What We Offer

Boat Brokerage

Make your boat stand our from the crowd with professional photography, video tour, detalied brochure and expert sales staff. Get the best price for your boat with you sell with Middlewich Boat Sales.

Boat Mechanic

At Middlewich Wharf there is a dedicated Boat Mechanic, with many years experience working on diesel engines across various sectors. You are in safe hands with us.

Chandlery Shop

A windlass to oil filter, new fenders or a new cooker, we have everything covered you could need. With frequently bought items always in stock, and special orders able to be sourced same day or next day.

Boating Holidays

Our barge holiday hire partner is Floating Holidays. Having many happy customers over the past 3 seasons since their inception a great voyage along the canal awaits. Where will you go?

Boat Painting & Restoration

Professional boat painting, sign writing and boat restoration. From full boat repaints to fabricating new side hatches or other works, large or small – all work considered.

Joinery Service

Time served carpenter carries out joinery our work shop. Whether you need a sail-away lining, bespoke cabinets or maybe a new fitted bed or dinette sofa bed let us know how we can help.

Pump Out, Diesel, Coal & Gas

Calor gas, red diesel, toilet pump out, coals, wood logs, kindling.  A full service boat wharf & the only pump-out for 2 days cruising.

Secure Moorings

Short term moorings and long term moorings available from the wharf, either towpath or offside secure moorings are available.

Where We Are

We are easy to find by car and are just off of the M6 at Junction 18. If travelling into Manchester Airport you can conveniently reach us by either hire car or taxi.

By boat we are between Bridge 169 and Lock 73 on the Trent and Mersey Canal just near the Wardle Junction with the Middlewich Arm of the Shropshire Union Canal.
