Sparkbrook is a 70ft long narrowboat of all steel construction. Initially built by Olds of Northampton and fitted out by Stephen Goldsborough in 1988.
Initially she was put into service as a trip boat and this is the reason for the large number of windows that the boat has which flood the interior with natural light.
The boat was bought by the current owner in 2002 and has been converted into a leisure boat. Sparkbrook would make an excellent liveaboard potentially due to her spacious internal accommodation or alaternatively could be ideal as a roving trader such as a cafe boat for example as the spacious accommodation permits a variety of uses.
Currently the boat is powered by a Thornycroft 4 cylinder engine (of a BMC style), with a PRM hydraulic gearbox. The boat has some issues presently with the engine. She was brought from Runcorn to Middlewich under her own steam however the engine stopped just outside of Middlewich. We currently suspect that either the cylinder head or head gasket requires some attention in order to bring the engine back into service and have refelected this in the asking price.
